Okay, I may have mentioned quite a few times already here on the blog that my family suffers from dry skin and eczema. Joaquin being one that is suffering the most with severe atopic dermatitis and food allergy. But that one is for another story. Let’s talk about my dry skin today! I CANNOT go on a day without putting on lotion or some sort of moisturizer on my body, especially on my face. If I even dare to skip moisturizing, I would always end up with skin feeling like a root crop ready for harvesting. My routine is pretty long, annoyingly tedious for my husband to understand. He on the other hand can tiis his dry skin. I simply cannot. What joy it is that I got a special package the other day that will help me deal with stubborn dry skin patches that my usual body lotion can’t seem to heal!
Vaseline sent me a few body lotions (the Vaseline Intensive Care Deep Restore Lotion, I already use!) and some Vaseline Original Jelly! See now I can understand why I have petroleum jelly in our first aid kit! Vaseline Petroleum Jelly helps protect minor cuts and burns!
It came with this cool box that has leaves, separated into two groups: leaves applied with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly and leaves without. Based on how they look, I think it’s a no brainer that we’d choose the leaves with Vaseline! Check out their video on how they did a full-scale experiment to show us the healing power of Vaseline:
Here’s what happened:
Photo #1: You can see how terribly dry and cracked my ankle is. Oh hey there, you can see signs of my constant scratching!
Photo #2: Time to #HealWithVaseline! It is made of 100% pure petroleum jelly.
Photo #3: The lotion/jelly looks way different that the cheap one in our first aid kit.
Photo #4: The consistency is different too. Different = better! It’s not sticky, greasy and annoying to touch.
Photo #5: Okay, time to put this baby on my sad skin!
Photo #6: You can already see the difference!!! It feels soo much better. It feels MOISTURIZED AND SOOTHED. (I should have lathered on Vaseline all over my legs na rin. Check out how dry the other side (under) is! Hahaha!
You know that feeling when you finally covered your dry skin with lotion and it helped ease the itchiness? That’s how it felt on my ankles and it hasn’t been soothed that way EVER! After that one application, I didn’t have to apply another one until the next day (but maybe it would be good to re-apply as needed or after another bath!) because it felt unbelievably soft and not cracked!
I can only recommend a few products for dry skin that really worked for me, especially for our eczema, and Vaseline is one of them. We’ll be trying out the petroleum jelly on Wacky to see if it helps heal his itchy spots.
