Nuffnang Philippines hosted the biggest blogging event last Saturday at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. I am so glad that I was able to attend Blogopolis 2012! I kid you not, the knowledge I have taken in from the event cannot be seen anywhere else. I learned from the top bloggers in the Philippines, mind you! I apologize in advance for the really bad photos. I failed to bring my camera so it was all taken with my iPhone.
I’m an early bird!

It was a whole-day event, 9AM to 9PM! But I was there only from 8:45 AM to 7:30 PM because my breasts (sorry!) were already putting me in pain for not breastfeeding the whole day and my shoes were killing me! I tweeted @NuffNangPH that I wish I had worn more comfortable shoes so that I could have stayed longer. Sayang if I won one of the fabulous giveaways that night if I leave early. But buti na lang I didn’t or else I would have to live with the guilt of not sucking it up!

Just a few of the giveaways that night were a brand-new iPhone 5 (!!!), an iPad Mini, and a couple of iPad 3s I believe. I wish I had stayed for networking night. I was really looking forward to meeting fellow bloggers and making new blogger friends! Next time I’ll wear flats! I’ll never wear heels to events from now on.

Abee Olandres on Philippine Blogosphere

I learned a whole lot from the keynote speakers as well as the rest of the speakers and during the breakout sessions (I attended Breakout Session A, btw!). I didn’t know much about the history of Philippine Blogosphere until Abe Olandres of YugaTech kicked off Blogopolis in the morning. Manuel L. Quezon III, also known as Manolo Quezon, taught us so much about The Role of Social Media in E-Governance. MORE AFTER THE BREAK!

Manolo Quezon on E-Governance

Maria Ressa spoke of how she transitioned from Offline to Online was amazing. It really showed us how media has evolved from the times when the Internet was non-existent to the public, to now when everyone is basically connected to the Internet 24/7. One of my favorite quotes from her talk, “Every Filipino in Social Media has an equal voice.”

Breakout Session A with Christine Dychiao, Divine Lee, and David Guison

Divine Lee was supposed to talk about Community Building: Engaging and Interacting with Your Audience, but we were told that she was unavailable to, so Jinoe Gavan took her place. I learned more on where and how I can reach my audience and how to be more engaging to my readers. Divine Lee did show up later on the day during our Breakout Session 2, lead by Christine Dychiao of Manila Fashion Observer.

To be honest, I didn’t want to stay the whole day because I left Jacob at home, but I did enjoy the talks so much that fly just flew by! I’m glad I did stay because after the lunch break, Liam Capati talked about working with brands and what makes brands advertise on our blogs. Abe took the stage again and really gave bloggers golden tips from his very own experiences. Did you know that YugaTech gets up to 2.9 million hits a month?! I’m not even close to that (yet!). So I really listened to everything he said and jot down every bit of information because I know this will help me level up my blog and bring it to where I want it to be.

Panel with Top Bloggers in the Philippines

Before ending the talks, top bloggers took the stage to answer questions and share their own tips to us bloggers on how to be probloggers! Mike Lim of Fashion Pulis was hilarious and it was awesome to get his honest thoughts on how to monetize your blog.

After all the talks, it was time to head on to Breakout Session A which was held at a different room on the first floor of the hotel. Before I did though, I finally gathered up my courage and went up to Frances Sales, better known as Topaz Horizon and Topaz Mommy! I’m very much addicted to reading her blogs because she writes so damn good and all about things that I’m interested in. I also got to meet Vince, her husband, also known as the Third World Nerd, which Osc have visited every now and then to read tech and gadget reviews.

Thanks, Third World Nerd, for taking our photo! I wish I had taken one with the both of you!

I’m slicing my arm and the rest of my body in our photo! Nakakahiya ang fats ko kay Frances, who just gave birth a few months ago! Look at her! See how breastfeeding help you slim back to your pre-pregnancy size? I don’t know what happened with me! I think hunger happened. LOL.

Frances somewhat knows me because I always comment on her blog! You know how you imagine how certain scenarios should go? I wish our first meeting went so much better! I had a lot of questions to ask and certainly more interesting things to say, but I was just too starstruck! I do hope I get to see Frances again in the next NuffNang events because I think I’ll learn a lot from her parenting skills with Vito, who’s older than Jacob. So many questions, Frances! I should do an interview!

Blogopolis was co-presented by Pond’s and sponsored by Sulit.com.ph, the Philippines’ #1 Classified Ads Website, and Sun Broadband. Other sponsors were Oishi, Vitress, Hygienix, SkinWhite, and so much more. I only got a few swags but man, our pantry is overflowing with Oishi snacks!

I’m so happy to have learned from the best. I’m excited to take my blog to the next level thanks to the speakers and panelists at Blogopolis. These are people that I look up to now because of the experiences and knowledge they have shared.

At the end of the day, #Blogopolis was trending on Twitter! We had Sun Broadband Internet to supply us with unlimited wi-fi connection during the event so we can tweet and share the happenings on Facebook.

Oh! My outfit for the event. I rarely wear heels, so glad I took a photo of it. Never again! I’d like to thank however, my darling husband, who took me and his little sister shopping at Forever 21 in Makati. Thank you for the clothes and shoes!

It’s great you were able to attend the event, Roxi! I was planning to go but, at the last minute, I flaked out (I hate Sundays – i’m too lazy to go out!). You met my sister-in-law, Frances and my brother, Vince! 🙂 sayang – we probably would have met too! Maybe next time!!

    • I was going to ask Vince about you kaso I was seriously flustered (and shaky because of the two cups of coffee I drank that day!). Please do go next time there’s an event! I’d like to sit down with you and Frances and talk about everything under the sun! 🙂

I have never been to a blogging event, sad to say. Looks like you had fun, despite the aching feet :). I love those heels, by the way. Better to look at than wear, maybe? 🙂

  13. storybookmom says:

I have been invited to some blogging events but wasn’t able to come because one: I have no one to accompany me to the event, two: the event’s place was often far from my place.

I can feel the pain of not breastfeeding the whole day (I often experience that when I was working and the first thing I would do when I got home is to get clean and nurse my daughter:)

  14. Becky Jane says:

I just went to Forever 21 for the first time yesterday. My daughters kept trying to get me to go, but I figured it was just like any other store…boy was I wrong! It’s now on my top 10 list of favorite stores!
