One of the problems Moms encounter when breastfeeding is a decrease in their milk supply. Even though there are tons of ways you can increase your milk supply such as nursing more often, ensuring baby has proper latch to stimulate your nipples and breasts better, eating healthy and keeping yourself healthy, another easy way to increase your milk supply is to consume lactation cookies.
While I never had problems with my milk supply, Jacob just loves to breastfeed whenever and wherever he can. My only concern was giving him more milk than I had. So I searched online for easy lactation cookie recipes and modified them to my liking. When we traveled to the US last year, I knew somehow my milk supply would be affected from all the airplane travel we had to do.
I’m not much of an oatmeal and nuts cookie fan, I prefer to eat plane cookies or chocolate chip cookies. So what I did with the recipe was substitute oats for chocolate chips.
Easy Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookie Recipe
1/3 cup of water
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 1/2 cup of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup of butter (softened)
1 cup flax seed
3 tablespoon of brewer’s yeast
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups of chocolate chips
Obviously it won’t taste like Mrs. Field’s Cookies because of the flax and brewer’s yeast added in, but it’s pretty tasty.
They’ve helped me get back my milk supply up to the normal after taking in 2-3 cookies a day. I also ate ‘soupy’ food to help.
Make sure you label your cookies in the pantry unless you want your husband and kids eating them too!
